Nhlanhla Magubane Bio

BCom, MSc, PhD (Candidate)

Nhlanhla is the founder of Ndalo Acres, a firm focused on sustainable investments in the agricultural sector. He has over 19 years’ experience in private markets. He is the co-founder and director of the Anchor Ndalo Fund, a platform in partnership with Anchor focusing on the acquisition and consolidation of the superfood commercial enterprises and adjacent industries

Before joining Anchor Institutional as Head of Capital Markets, he served as Director at Power China (New Energy Division). Nhlanhla has also completed short courses in:

  1. Public Policy Economics with University of Oxford and
  2. Managing Power Sector Reform and Regulation with the GSB at University of Cape Town.
  3. Sustainable Food Production in a Changing Environment with Queen’s University in Belfast
  4. Circular Business Models with University of Helsinki;
  5. Impact Investing with Jindal Center for Social Innovation and Innovation

Sane Mzondi Bio

BSc (Geography & Environmental Management), MSc (Ecology) currently researching the carbon sequestration of the revegetated riparian zone in the Three Gorges Dam Reservoir, China.

Sane is the founder and CEO of Ndalo Eco Partners, a specialist consulting firm providing environmental management services to public and private sector clients. Sane has more than 10 years’ experience working as an Environmental Manager, GIS Technician, Project Manager, ESG consultant and an Academic Researcher. She has also published an academic article with the University of South West in Chongqing, China, titled: “Evaluating the Effects of Pressure Indicators on Riparian Zone Health Conditions in the Three Gorges Dam Reservoir, China.”

Sane has a solid foundation in Geography and Environmental Management and has worked both in the public and private sectors covering a spectrum of industries from mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, aquaculture and civil engineering.

She has completed the following courses:

  • Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2004) SABS Training Center
  • Air Quality Management (C&M)
  • Air Quality Information Management (C&M)
  • Dust Management (DEA)

Nicolas Balcomb Bio

Nic started his career at Sanlam Private Investments after studying a Bachelor of Commerce at UCT, he then moved home to eSwatini where he founded the largest locally owned asset management firm, servicing government pension funds and private clients. Nic subsequently traded in property assets and developed the country’s leading private property portfolio.

He currently resides in South Africa and acts as an independent investment advisor, having consulted for numerous successful start-up businesses as well as major business acquisitions within eSwatini and SA.

Andrew Wood Bio

Andrew has been involved in several startup businesses in several sectors since 2007. In 2015 he returned to his passion for farming by joining his family in setting up a flower growing operation.

He then took up a job offer as head of Sales and Marketing for Haygrove Southern Africa. Heading this up Andrew has dealt with growers developing projects across the region since 2015, supplying the industry with systems into multiple large scale commercial agri projects. He has developed strong relationships with most agricultural groups and suppliers in the sector. With this experience Andrew is key to the sourcing and analysis of commercial agri project developments.

Scott

Scott grew up in a farming family in Limpopo where he found his passion for Agriculture. From there he worked for various agricultural companies and South Africa and Zambia before deciding to study a BscAgric in Horticulture and Economics at Stellenbosch University.

After achieving his degree, he worked for large agricultural companies where he headed various businesses in farming, nurseries, and agricultural IP. Once he saw the opportunity to add value to the industry, he started consulting with growers around Southern Africa where he helped them realise their full production potential in several crops. Scott is also a registered Professional Natural Scientist (Pr. Sci. Nat) with SACNASP.  He now lives in the western cape where he continues to help farmers with technical and business advice.

Thabiso

Thabiso holds the role of CEO at Primocane Capital Eswatini, leveraging over 16 years of experience in finance and investment. Throughout his career, he’s worked in various management roles, focusing on structured finance, asset management and project management. Thabiso holds an MBA and a Post Graduate Diploma in General Management from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), along with degrees in economics and mathematical statistics and economics from Rhodes University. He is certified in entrepreneurship, financial markets and Six Sigma (yellow belt).
 
His expertise in credit research, deal origination and investment strategy has earned him recognition for his leadership and strategic insight. Thabiso is also an active member of the Economics Association of Eswatini, contributing as a board member and treasurer since 2015

Rita Chen Bio

Rita is the founder of Agripower, a local South African firm that offers reliable and sustainable alternative power solutions. Agripower acts as a “one -stop shop” for streamlining of energy projects in the development, design, procurement, construction and financing of renewable energy projects in Africa. She has over 15 years’ experience in the renewable energy sector and Chinese-African economic and trade exchanges. She previously worked at Power Construction Corporation of China (New Energy Division) as Legal Director and Hexing Group as Group Legal Counsel.
